Operation DR started as the 2018 Missions Conference at Marsh Lane Baptist Church, and continued into 2019 as a Marsh Lane sent down a team of volunteers to help with some missions work in the field working with missionary couple John and Lynn Cunningham working in the Dominican Republic through World Baptist Fellowship. I was asked to create a logo for the conference using blue and red accents to match the blue and red of the Dominican flag. After several iterations, we ended up with 2 versions of a logo: one version with just text, and a second version that added a circle around the conference title that would hold the slogan and scripture for the event. The conference was a huge success, and raised over $40,000 that would be used for the projects the team helped complete. This was the largest missions offering Marsh Lane had to date.
After the conference, Marsh Lane sent a "recon" team of 6 in November to install a second bathroom, complete and equip a room to serve as an office for the pastor, and look at potential projects for the main trip. The main trip happened at the beginning of August 2019, with 27 volunteers helped out with a variety of projects that had been identified by the recon team. These projects included working with Mercy Jewelry, which helps women involved in trafficking get out of that life and make a living, helping at Las Palmas Christian School, working on a wall to close in the property, and outreach in the area. Funds from the missions conference also helped provide a generator for the church, purchasing a new system, renovating the pool at the school, and constructing an all-purpose sports court. Remaining funds went towards a "dream" project of constructing a second floor for one of the school buildings.
