As part of one of my graphic design courses, my class was assigned a project to create magazine ads for various products. I was assigned the task of creating an advertisement for a toy of my choice. With fond memories of Ernie's bath time song, a love of Arthur Weasley's question "What exactly is the function of a rubber duck" and a recent knowledge of rubber duck debugging, I chose the classic yellow and orange water toy as my product.
For anyone who has not heard of rubber duck programming, it can be not only helpful but entertaining as well. The idea behind rubber duck programming is that a programmer having a problem with his or her code will explain the code line by line to the duck. As the programmer explains his code, it will help him or her find the mistake in the code. There are many stories that can be found of the frustrated programmers and what happens with their rubber ducks as the programmer discovers their mistake.
With my chosen toy product, I set to work researching magazine advertisements before I started to create my own. After a few sketches, I started to create my rubber duck advertisement, complete with a logo for a fictional rubber duck company, Duckie.
